Former Special Constable arrested in RAF gunner Corrie McKeague mystery

It is being widely reported that Haydn Stephens, a former special constable, has been arrested in connection with the Corrie McKeague mystery. Corrie is originally from Fife in Scotland and moved to Suffolk to live at RAF Honington. Corrie worked as a gunner and team medic in the air force.

It is also being reported that not only has Haydn Stephens been arrested but that he also works for waste management firm Biffa. Stephens is understood to have been a special constable for Suffolk Police - who haven't released any further information.

One of Biffa's lorries was seen in the area where the RAF serviceman, Corrie McKeague, was last seen in Bury St Edmunds.

Stories are suggesting that Haydn Stephens was arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice. He has been questioned and has been released on bail. Corrie's family have been reported as saying that they think some people may be covering up the reasons he is missing.

Officers are preparing to search a rubbish tip in Milton in the coming days.

Detective Superintendent Katie Elliott said: 'We are continuing to make progress on the investigation and we will be starting the landfill site search as soon as the preparatory work is complete.

'We have been carrying out a lot of inquiries behind the scenes and our work continues to find the truth about what happened to Corrie.'

The investigation to find Corrie has been one of the most expensive ever carried out by Suffolk and Norfolk Constabularies.
