Police digging up gardens looking for more victims of murderer Christopher Halliwell

Christopher Halliwell, 53, was convicted in 2016 of fatally stabbing and strangling Becky Godden, 20, in 2003. Halliwell led police to the field in which he dumped Becky’s body in Eastleach, Gloucestershire.

The taxi driver had already been serving a life sentence for killing Sian O'Callaghan. Halliwell had abducted Ms O’Callaghan as she left a nightclub in 2011. Halliwell dumped her body in Uffington, Oxfordshire.

DS Steve Fulcher had suspected Christopher Halliwell had killed more people as Halliwell had previously said he couldn’t remember which year he had killed Becky in. There was an eight year gap between the known murders - leaving some to suppose there were other murders committed by Halliwell.

Wiltshire Police have started to excavate gardens in two properties in Broad Street, Swindon.

Detective Chief Inspector Jeremy Carter has made it clear that current occupants of the houses have no involvement in the investigation whatsoever.

Halliwell is being linked to other, unsolved, murders in the area. Some names mentioned are:

Sally Ann John, 24, Sandra Brewin, 21 and Thi Hai Nguyen, 20.
